The Department uses estimated future demand for adult social care (ASC) over a 20 year period, which is published by the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre at the London School of Economics.

The Department uses these published estimates when assessing ASC cost pressures, which are shared with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to inform the Local Government Finance Settlement. The departments’ estimates of cost pressures reflect a range of inputs into social care services, including estates and the workforce.
