Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many people were charged with drink driving in the Christmas period in each of the last five years.
The Home Office does not collect details on the number of people charged with drink driving. The Home Office collects data on the number of crimes recorded by the police for all notifiable offences and the police outcome of these crimes. However, drink driving is not a notifiable offence. The Home Office also collects data on the number of screening breath tests carried out by police in England and Wales, and the number of these which were positive or refused, though it is not possible to separately identify the Christmas period in the data collected.
