Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment his Department has made of the potential effect on consumption of tobacco of a (a) two per cent and (b) five per cent above inflation increase in the price of tobacco.
This question was answered on 17th January 2017
The Department has made no such assessments. Tax policy and the assessment of its impact is the responsibility of HM Treasury.
