Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, pursuant to the Answer of 16 December 2016 to Question 57065, on what date was responsibility for child poverty policy and analysis transferred to his Department from the Child Poverty Unit.
The provisions in the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016 that repealed the income-related targets set out in the Child Poverty Act 2010 and the associated requirements to publish a child poverty strategy were enacted on 16 March 2016 and came into force on 16 May 2016. As with other machinery of government changes, the policy and analytical functions of the Child Poverty Unit were gradually transferred to the Department for Work and Pensions in line with the planned commencement of the new legislation.
