The planned talks in Astana have not yet taken place. We hope that they can contribute to a UN-led process. The United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria has indicated a plan to hold UN-mediated talks in Geneva in February. The British Government will continue to support the work of the UN including through our role in the UN Security Council and in the International Syria Support Group.
