No recent assessment has been made. However, action is being taken to protect and support staff through the national NHS Violence Reduction Programme, which includes improved training for staff to deal with violence and prompt mental health support for staff who have been victims of violence. On 14 October we announced that the Department and NHS England will work with trades unions and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges to launch a zero tolerance campaign on abuse of National Health Service staff.
