Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what information his Department holds on the number of (a) electricity and (b) gas smart meter installations that have required at least one additional visit to a property because the meter did not work as envisaged.

The Department does not hold this information. Energy suppliers are required as part of their licence conditions to take all reasonable steps to roll out smart meters to all their domestic and non-domestic customers by the end of 2020.
