The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has provided in-house training for 152 Marine Surveyors since 2010. This is provided by MCA experts on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006 and its enforcement. Some Marine Surveyors have also attended international training courses on matters relating to the International Labour Organisation and the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control.

All new Marine Surveyors are given training on the MLC, 2006 as part of their induction process.

The MCA is not responsible for enforcement of the MLC, 2006 in Red Ensign Group ports.
