Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many attendances at emergency departments for self-harm per 100,000 people there were in 2015-16; and how many such people received a psychological assessment.
Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) show there were 208 attendances at emergency departments per 100,000 of the population for 'Deliberate Self Harm' in 2015/16 in England (and a total of 113, 873 attendances in the same period).
HES data is a count of hospital attendances, not individual patients, as the same person may have attended hospital on more than one occasion.
We do not hold information on the number of people who received a psychosocial assessment following self-harm.
