Leaving the EU offers us an exceptional opportunity to re-consider and shape our approach to managing our environment in order to deliver our ambition of improving it within a generation.

We will soon be publishing a green paper consulting on our ambitions for the 25 year environment plan. We will use this to inform our vision for the environment we want in 25 years’ time.

This will then allow us, over time, to review the current policy framework to ensure it is fit for purpose, in line with the principles of the green paper. Once the 25 year environment plan programme is further advanced, we will have a better understanding of the resourcing required for this.
