Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what his most recent estimate is of the number of workers who will automatic enrolment in pension schemes by 2018.
11 million workers are estimated to be in the eligible target group for automatic enrolment and we expect this to lead to around 10 million people newly saving or saving more by 2018, generating around £17 billion a year more in workplace pension saving by 2019/20.
Since the roll out of automatic enrolment, over 7.1 million people have been automatically enrolled into a workplace pension and more than 370,000 employers have met their duties. We remain on track to complete the gradual roll of automatic enrolment from 2012 to 2018.
