Where a pupil is suspended or excluded from school and no alternative provision has been made for a pupil at the time the attendance register is taken, the pupil will be recorded as absent (using attendance code E). This will be reflected in the school’s attendance figures.

Alternative provision must be arranged from the sixth day of any suspension or permanent exclusion.
