To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how many former prisoners have been employed by his Department in each of the last five years.

All individuals applying for roles at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy are subject to Disclosure Scotland checks during the application process.

In line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974), Disclosure Scotland checks confirm the unspent convictions of an individual seeking employment at the department but do not disclose this information. Therefore we do not hold information of any spent convictions an employee may have.
