Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what her Department's policy is on bringing forward legislative proposals that will further regulate and limit animal testing after the UK leaves the EU.

The European Directive 2010/63/EU which covers this area, was transposed into UK law and took effect from 1 January 2013. That legislation will continue to regulate the work of scientists and research in the UK after the Great Repeal Bill takes effect.

We will consider whether the UK’s future relationship with Europe requires legislative change in due course.
