Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of the number of detectives in each police force.

Decisions on the size, composition, and deployment of the police workforce are operational matters for the Chief Constable of each area, working with their directly accountable Police and Crime Commissioner.

We have a constructive and ongoing dialogue with policing about ensuring that the right powers, capabilities and resources are in place to keep the public safe.
