Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether she has had recent discussions with the Care Quality Commission on the effectiveness of processes to identify (a) unsafe and (b) abusive social care environments and (c) potential future risks of harm to residents.

There have been no recent discussions. The Department is working with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on a new performance assessment framework for local authorities on the delivery of adult social care duties under the Care Act 2014, which includes safety and quality of care.
