Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what assessment he has made of the potential effect of the UK leaving the EU on the household savings ratio.

At Autumn Statement, the independent Office for Budget Responsibility produced their first forecast for the UK economy following the referendum on EU membership in June 2016. The OBR forecast the household saving ratio to fall slightly in 2017, before rising in 2018 and remaining stable over the rest of the forecast.
