The UK Government is monitoring developments in global and, where possible, vulnerable regional and national, fertiliser markets, including current supply shortages and high prices of nitrogenous and other fertilisers. Challenges related to supply and prices have contributed to high global food prices this year and were further exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. While 2022 has been a year of increased food access challenges, high fertiliser costs and supply constraints could impact on yields in the coming year and affect global food availability in 2023.
