Coroner services are funded by local authorities, not the Ministry of Justice. The local authorities which fund the West London coroner service are the London Boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham (the lead authority), Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kingston upon Thames and Richmond upon Thames. They are independent of central government and are responsible for managing their budgets in line with local priorities.
