This Department continues to work closely with the Department for Transport on hydrogen, which is important in decarbonising aviation and maritime and can offer flexible options for buses and heavy goods vehicles. The Government is already supporting options for the use of green hydrogen across road freight, buses, trains, maritime and aviation to support the development of a thriving UK hydrogen economy – including through the £200m Zero Emission Road Freight Demonstrator programme, the £206m UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE), and the £20m phase two funding of the UK’s first multi-modal transport hub in the Tees Valley.
