Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she is taking to protect the Scottish wildcat population in the UK.

The Scottish wild cat is protected in the UK in accordance with the EU Habitats Directive. The only recorded population living in the wild in the UK is in Scotland. As wildlife protection is a devolved issue any additional measures for their protection in Scotland is a matter for the Scottish Government.
