Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps she is taking to ensure that child victims of trafficking receive adequate specialist support and accommodation.

This Government is committed to ensuring that child victims of trafficking receive the support and accommodation they need. That is why we are introducing Independent Child Trafficking Advocates, starting in three early adopter sites, who will provide specialist support and act in the best interests of trafficked children. We are also investing £2.2m from the Child Trafficking Protection Fund in projects to support child trafficking victims including a specialist accommodation pilot; and we have commissioned a review, with the Department for Education, to assess local authority support for trafficked children from non-EEA countries.

Under existing legislation, local authorities must draw up a care plan for each looked after child which includes ensuring they have access to health and education services and appropriate and safe accommodation.
