The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) does not maintain a central record of the number or proportion of cases in which a witness summons or special measures are requested, or the number and proportion of applications which were subsequently granted. Obtaining this information would require a manual review of individual case files which would incur a disproportionate cost.
