Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to page 5, Part 1 of the Digital Strategy published on 1 March 2017, what broadband speed train operators will be required to deliver to provide high-speed connectivity to ensure fast and reliable WiFi.

In the new franchise agreement, our requirement for all new franchises will be for an initial minimum average data speed per passenger of 1Mbps.

The Department for Transport estimates that on average 100Mbps per train will be required initially.
