Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what her policy is on creating new free schools; and if she will make a statement.

We remain completely committed to an ambitious free schools programme that delivers, choice, innovation and higher standards for parents. Free schools are more likely than maintained schools to be rated outstanding by Ofsted.

We plan to approve the further 140 free schools, funding for which was announced in the last budget.
