Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many people in (a) Wakefield constituency and (b) Wakefield Metropolitan District Council area were in receipt of the bereavement payment in each of the last six years.

There are no Official Statistics on receipt of bereavement payment but the Department’s best estimate from Management Information is that 70 claimants received a bereavement payment in the Parliamentary constituency of Wakefield and 230 claimants received a bereavement payment in Wakefield Local Authority for the 12 months to May 2016. Historic information is not available on bereavement payment.
