Question to the Attorney General:
To ask the Attorney General, how many successful prosecutions there have been for drivers leaving their engines running when stationary in each of the last five years.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) does not maintain a central record of the number of successful prosecutions for drivers leaving their engines running while stationary and such information could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.
The majority of these offences are dealt with by way of fixed penalty notices or as specified proceedings (i.e. pleas of guilty which are not dealt with by the CPS).
