Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what recent discussions her Department has had with shooting organisations on the banning of run-through traps.

Defra has not had any recent discussions with shooting organisations on banning run through traps. However, there is clear evidence that certain run through traps, such as the Fenn Mk VI, do not meet international trapping standards for stoats. Defra officials are in discussion with shooting organisations to identify suitable replacement traps for stoats as part of our work to implement the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards.
