Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what recent discussions her Department has had with shooting organisations on the provision of firearms certificates with a validity of 20 to 30 years.

The length of the validity of firearm certificates in England, Wales and Scotland is specified by the Firearms Act 1968 (as amended) and is currently set at five years.

Home Office Ministers and officials have regular meetings with stakeholders and others as part of the process of policy development and delivery.
