Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps the Government is taking to ensure that the business case for the North West Relief Road is conducted effectively and efficiently.

The large majors programme is competitive and not every scheme will be funded so it is in Shropshire Council’s interest to submit a well evidenced and persuasive business case. Departmental officials have already met Council officers and will continue to provide advice on the development of the business case up to the point of submission to the Department. We will then make a decision on whether or not to provide funding for the construction of this scheme and any others submitted at the same time.
