Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer of 27 October 2021 to Question 58941 on Visas: Afghanistan, how many applications for visas to the UK have been made by Afghan nationals in each month of 2021, by type of visa; and what the cost in fees is of each of those types of visa.

In terms of visa fees; Fees are set taking account of the charging powers provided by Section 68(9) of the Immigration Act 2014, which include the ability to set fees based on: the cost of processing the application, the benefits and entitlements provided by a successful application and the wider cost of the migration and borders system. The Home Office keeps fees for immigration and nationality applications under review and ensures they are within the parameters agreed with HM Treasury and Parliament
