Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the Answer of 5 June 2015 to Question 261, what progress has been made on the inquiry into tax avoidance facilitated by HSBC.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is working closely with other law enforcement agencies on re-examining the data to establish any new risks. The results of this re-examination will require assessment and evaluation to determine the need for criminal or civil investigations.

This work is being carried out as expeditiously as possible. I cannot provide any further detail to avoid prejudicing any future operational activity.
