It is the UK's longstanding policy that any judgment as to whether genocide has occurred is a judicial decision rather than a Government decision. Competent courts include international courts, such as the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, and national criminal courts that meet international standards of due process. We have consistently called on Israel to respect International Humanitarian Law regarding its operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
