Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will review his workforce plan for general practice and take further steps to ensure that there is an adequate (a) number of trained staff and (b) mix of skills among those staff.

As Private contractors, GPs make their own workforce plans and hiring decisions, however we encourage recruitment of certain roles through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). Under the Primary Care Network Direct Enhanced Services, PCNs are able to recruit new roles to expand their care team with full reimbursement through the ARRS.
