Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether it is his policy to continue to provide development aid to China.
The UK Government stopped direct government-to-government bilateral aid to the Chinese Government in 2011. In 2021, the FCDO cut its remaining aid programming to China by 95 per cent to £900,000. Our remaining spend is focused on specific programmes that support British values around open societies and human rights.
