It is important that consumers are confident they can find the best deals on price comparison websites.

Currently all energy switching sites accredited to the Ofgem Confidence Code need to provide a comparison of all tariffs available across the market, as a default, regardless of whether the switching site has a commercial arrangement in place with the supplier.

Following a recommendation by the Competition and Markets Authority, Ofgem launched a consultation on changes to the Confidence Code so that price comparison sites could show, as a default, only those tariffs for which it receives commission, provided it also includes clear and easy access to a whole of market comparison.

Ofgem is due to publish its decision on the consultation shortly.
