Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how much his Department has spent on services targeted at offering alternatives to abortion for women with crisis pregnancies in each of the last five years; and on what those funds were spent.
The Department does not directly fund services that provide advice on unplanned or crisis pregnancies. The Government’s Framework for Sexual Health Improvement in England (2013) sets out that women considering an abortion should be referred or signposted to services which provide impartial, accurate information and, if required, counselling on the full range of options available to women.
