Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent representations he has made to his Russian counterparts on (a) its conflict with Ukraine; (b) its involvement in mediation on the Libyan conflict and (c) the future of Syria.
The Prime Minister met President Putin at the Berlin Conference on Libya on 19th January. They discussed our shared responsibility to address issues of international security including the conflict in Libya and the future of Syria.
The British Government has repeatedly called on Russia to fully respect Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity. What Russia has done and continues to do there clearly breaches its obligations under international law and presents a serious challenge to the international rules-based order.
