In 2014, the UK Government agreed to commit £500 million to a city region deal for Glasgow and the Clyde Valley, which includes support for infrastructure projects in East Renfrewshire.

A number of projects along the M77 Strategic Corridor have been put forward by East Renfrewshire Council for inclusion in the Deal, including the Ballygraystone Road improvement works and a new train station, all of which are all intended to improve access to Barrhead and which are now being taken forward.

Additional support is being provided across the region to help young people access the job market and to support those already in work.
