Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what assessment his Department has made of the likely extent of the continuing use of the English language in European institutions after the UK leaves the EU.

​We have not undertaken a formal assessment on the likely use of the English language in European institutions after the UK leaves the EU. However, we fully expect English to continue to be used widely, not least because other Member States use English as an official language.
