To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, how many people were employed in the aerospace, defence, security and space industry in (a) each country of the UK and (b) each region of England in the last year for which figures are available.

Employment in the aerospace industry in 2013 for each country of the United Kingdom and each region in England is given in the attached table. The ‘aerospace, defence, security and space industry’ is defined by the Standard industrial classification sectors: 30.3 manufacture of air and spacecraft and related machinery and 33.16 repair and maintenance of aircraft and spacecraft. This includes both civil and defence activity.
