Question to the Department for Education:

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what proportion of students registered in English Higher Educational establishments were overseas students in each of the last five years.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency collects and publishes statistics on enrolments and qualifications obtained at UK higher education (HE) institutions. Latest statistics refer to the 2020/21 academic year.

The tables below show the numbers of non-UK domiciled students enrolled at English HE providers between academic years 2016/17 and 2020/21. Domicile refers to the permanent home address of the student, prior to entry of the course.
