Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate she has made of the number of (a) train services and (b) passenger journeys in each week in (a) September 2019 and (b) September 2022.

Statistics on the number of trains planned to run and the number of passenger journeys undertaken are both published by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). Trains planned to run are published on a periodic basis with each period covering a four-week interval. Statistics on the number of train services that ran are not publicly available. Table 1 below presents the number of planned services. The numbers below take into account the impact of industrial action.

Statistics presenting passenger journeys are below in Table 2. These statistics are published on a quarterly basis. Statistics for the number of passenger journeys covering September 2022 are not due to be published by ORR until 15th December 2022.
