As part of the Budget in 2020, the Government committed to relocating 22,000 Civil Service roles from Greater London to locations across the United Kingdom, including York, with the Places for Growth Portfolio delivering on this commitment.

We will decide on our locations taking into account a range of factors including our operating models, workforce and location analysis. We will select places that have the skills, transport links and capacity to meet our needs, as well as ensuring locations are suitable for the long-term success and sustainability of the Civil Service.
