There are no specific assessment tools in place. However, the NHS Long Term Plan stated that all patients will have access to the right expertise and support, including a clinical nurse specialist or other support worker.

The 2021 Cancer Patient Experience Survey showed that 90.4% of patients with brain cancer reported that they had a primary contact who would support them through their treatment, with 84.5% reporting that this contact was a specialist nurse.
