We remain committed to an ambitious free schools programme that delivers choice, innovation and higher standards for parents. 29% of free schools inspected by Ofsted are rated outstanding.

By the end of September 2017, there will be 473 open free schools, university technical colleges and studio schools. There are currently 321 projects aiming to open in the future.
