Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment he has made of the effect of the £2.9 billion reduction of funding for Official Development Assistance on the UK's contribution to delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Given the expected fall in Gross National Income (GNI) this year, we have undertaken a comprehensive review of the aid portfolio to make sure we continue to support the most vulnerable around the world and meet our commitment to spend 0.7% of GNI on development assistance. We have ensured a strong focus on poverty reduction for the 'bottom billion', tackling climate change and reversing biodiversity loss, championing girls' education and the global response to Covid-19. These priority areas are closely aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which we remain committed to.
