To ask the Prime Minister, what the average annual cost to the public purse is of a Member of the House of Lords; and how many peerages he estimates will be created over the next 12 months.

The cost of the House of Lords is a matter for the House authorities. Any peerages to be created would be made in accordance with established procedure.
