Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make representations to the government of Thailand on prison conditions in that country.

We have previously raised our concerns about prison conditions with the Thai Minister for Justice and senior officials. They have shown themselves willing to cooperate on work to improve prison conditions and we are ready to share our experience and expertise. We maintain a regular dialogue with senior prison officials to address specific concerns.
