Strokes: Anticoagulants

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what discussions he has had with (a) the Royal College of Nursing and (b) other bodies on the use of blood thinners to reduce the occurrence of strokes.

We have had no specific discussions. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence has published guidance on the diagnosis and management of atrial fibrillation which makes recommendations on stroke prevention, including the use of anticoagulants
